Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Came in to this pizza place for a quick meal. It was the first thing we saw and we were hungry and we figured you can't go wrong with pizza right? Lol When we walked in it was kind of confusing where we needed to order especially because none of the three people behind the counter greeted us or even spoke to us. We just kind of lingered for like 5 minutes until one of the guys motioned to someone already waiting for their food and then he finally decided to acknowledge us. We had slices of pizza and fries. The pizza slices were huge which made it weird to eat because the plates were super small by comparison. The crust was thin and tough to bite. I expected more crunchy since it was a thin crust but my little guy refused to eat the crust. In fact he refused to eat the pizza entirely and that is strange because this kid asks to eat pizza for every meal. I honestly have been to other damenzo's but I will not be returning to this location. They definitely left us with a bad taste in our mouth.

This place was recommended to a group of us on a recent trip. The pizza slices are double the size of a regular pizza and cost as much a two regular slices. I order one of their salad and it was awful! It had enormous chunks processed of ham and Turkey with very little greens and cheese. The place is small and the way the tables and chairs are organized make no sense. When the place is packed you must walk behind a wall to reach the other section of the dinning area. The service is very, very slow, they do bring the order to the table for you, but coming from NY their pizza is nothing to brag about.

This place is usually great. The food is decent; the cheese beef is really good. My only pet peeve is phone etiquette & the older white delivery woman w/no manners. I will have to pick up my order from this point on. Hopefully, in the future Damenzo's will be on Grub Hub & I don't have to call and talk to anyone to place an order.

1st time here & it was pretty good. I wanted to try a slice, but instead ordered a large sausage/pepperoni. It was fresh out the oven & cooked to perfection. The pizza was the bomb! Service was really quick. I'll definitely be back for more!

Consider this a two-and-a-half-star, take-the-good-with-the-bad review. GREAT DEALS - SLICE OF PIZZA: $4 for a pre-historic-sized slice of pizza is REE-DICULOUS. This thing is so big, it's like getting a medium-sized pizza for $4. - ALL PIZZA: is very reasonable, BUT... - JUMBO-SIZED PIZZA: It will turn heads. It's huge. And for a large party, a few of these will please the crowd. Great for kid's birthday parties, etc. - PASTA: Giant pans of pasta for $9 - $10 that will feed three as an entré or six, seven, eight as a side to pizza. Consider adding this to your jumbo pizza order for a super thrifty catering solution. WHAT'S GOOD Nothing really stands out as exceptional. - TURKEY PANINI: Is pretty good. - SAUSAGE PIZZA: Is also pretty good. INSIDER TIP - CARRY OUT: Don't. If you order ANYTHING other than pizza for carry out, they probably won't start making it until you get there. I don't know why. You can have an in-depth conversation about timing and they will disregard. It's EXTREMELY frustrating. And they've received less of my business as a result. Unless you're getting a pizza, order in the store or get it delivered. - FRIES: I'm not a fan of the giant pile of soggy, unsalted fries. I don't think anyone who eats there ever eats the fries because they fall short of mediocre. But they come with many of the sandwiches. And there are ample quantities. Damenzo's should remember that they're doing business in Forest Park--a village that SHOULD BE FAMOUS for fries considering Duck Fat's Parmesan Truffle Fries (and the Duck Fat Fries), Submarine Tender's Butter Garlic Fries, and Amelia's WAAAAY OFF THE CHAIN Garlic Fries that are double-fried belgian-style. Step it up a little, Damenzo's. Please. - PIZZA PUFF: This is a calzone, not a Chicago-style "pizza puff". It's a HUGE pizza dough pocket that is BAKED, not fried. Picture a pizza that has been folded in half, not the absurdly delicious, deep-fried, ILTACO food product that would have your cardiologist throw up his hands in futility. IN A NUTSHELL: This place is mediocre, but has it's role in the fast food ecosystem of the area. I will go again. And under certain aforementioned circumstances, I would even recommend it.

I FRIKKIN LOVE THIS PLACE. Ok that having been said, the place is nothing to look at inside, the dining area is strictly fast food serviceable. It's ALL about the delivery/take out here. The slice of pizza and drink for $5 is the most ridiculous deal in town. The slice is literally big enough for 2 people and my partner and I will often split one. You simply can NOT beat it. Crispy awesome crust, great toppings... perfection. The Italian menu is also crazy good. The order of fettuccine Alfredo with grilled chicken is DELISH and literally enough for 3 people to share and at $10 is a CRAZY value. The lasagna is also wicked good. Not fine dining Italian by ANY means but for what it is, it ROCKS. Oddly, when you consider who's cooking in the kitchen, the Mexican menu isn't up to the same standard as the pizza and the pasta. Don't bother with it. Had some delivery issues the first few times we tried getting delivery from them but they seem to know where we are now and it's not a problem. Totally worth a visit or a delivery call!!!! Concept C Execution C Menu B Service B Quality A Value A Grade B

There are pizza joints all over this area. Some are good and some are not so good, all for a wide variety of reasons. Damenzo's is a semi-regular visit for me (once a week). Location is central to all the places I end up during the week. It's open pretty late on weeknights. Huge pizza slices for only $5 with a drink. I don't care how long that pizza has been sitting under the heat lamp. It's pizza! You can eat pizza that's been sitting out all night and cold the next day... and it'd still be good. They heat it up and it's fast and delicious. Folks who work there are great as well. Don't hate this place for everything it isn't. For what it is, it's pretty awesome!

When did this place open? Why was I not properly informed!!! The slices are very big and quite good. Not the best I've ever had, but probably the best in the area. They have a very strange menu..... That includes a lot of Mexican options.... In a pizza joint. I would stay away from that. (Especially since Ino's is right down the street) Strange menu + friendly staff + Above average slice and a pop for $5.50 = 4 stars.

I'm a little surprised by the low scores here so I guess I'll only put out my opinion for the pizza we ordered the other night. This place gets 5 stars for their pizza alone! My husband and I ordered a pizza with pepperoni, green peppers, onions, and mushrooms and I'm certain I could've eaten the whole pizza that night! The cheese on the pizza is amazing! It's creamy and stretchy and delicious! The veggies on the pizza are nice and thick...no skimping here! After 2 pieces, I was already getting full, but ate 2 more because I couldn't stop myself. It's definitely a messy pizza but well worth it in my opinion! Saprino's and other pizza joints we've tried in the area can't touch it!

Ordered a small Damenzo special pizza and this had to be the worst pizza I've had in a very long time. It was beyond disgusting.

Damenzo's Pizza is the newest restaurant to open up in Forest Park and I have to say they aren't all that bad. I had been there three times in about as many days as they have been open (mostly due to convenience of location) and have had generally good and attentive service. The first time I had gone I got the pizza slice and a steak taco. The slice is roughly the size of a large Rottweiler's head; the crust was light and airy; the sauce tasted pretty fresh but seemed to be lacking a little flavor, and the cheese had the right amount of flavor without being overly salty. The taco was just your average taco, although their salsa verde I would say was well above average. I'm skipping to the third visit as I had gotten pizza on the second. I ordered the spaghetti with meatballs. They actually brought me out linguine (I didn't care) and the portion was gigantic. The marinara is similar to the pizza sauce, pretty good but still lacking something, and the meatballs were huge and weren't anything special. Well overall I like the place. My only qualm is that their prices are a little too high (a $4.50 delivery charge), aside from that I foresee Damenzo's doing just fine in Forest Park. Oh, I forgot to mention a full bar available on May 1st.

This place is so-so. I'm not a huge fan of their giant pizza slices, that sit out for hours on end, but the paninis I've had here are pretty decent. They cost roughly $7.50 (a little pricey if you ask me) but it comes on yummy ciabatta bread and I'm never able to finish the entire thing. The meal also come with a sack of fries that are also pretty good and not too greasy. If you're looking for sandwich check them out, if you're looking for pizza I'd go somewhere else.

OMG. I will NEVER order from this place again. Their driver pulls into my driver at 11 at night and starts blaring her horn. I go outside and motion for her to come in. She gets out of the car and screams: "YO! SOMEBODY HERE ORDER FOOD?" I'm sure it woke up everyone for blocks around. I am SO embarrassed. I told her to get the f^^^ out of here. YO, DAMENZO'S? THIS ISN'T THE F****** GETTO! Horrible experience. Never again! I guess it's Sarpinos from now on! Too bad, I like Damenzo's pizza.

Great food, good value and kid friendly. We had pizza and eggplant Parma. Very fresh ingredients. Waitress was super nice and brought the kids crayons and books. We just ordered sandwiches this week for take out lunch that were amazing. It was "the special" on ciabatta bread, get it hot. Super yummy. We will be biking here this summer to get sandwiches for the park. This Taylor Street original is a fantastic addition to Forest Park.

Tried them on Sunday. Won't have to worry about me trying them again. I ordered spaghetti & meatballs. It was a huge portion BUT it was a giant mess of noodles and sauce all mixed together (sorry but I prefer to mix the sauce in myself). The sauce tasted like kethcup. The meatballs were inedible. I had to resort to a steak knife to even break one open. Tried one taste.....burnt flavor but no good taste. Tasted like hamburger. Threw them away. The garlic bread that came with it was okay. Other person I was with had an Italian Beef. The only reason he ate it was because he was hungry. His words, "the worst beef I've ever had." Did not try the pizza but saw quite a few folks having a slice. Look like white rubber with stuff on it. Maybe some folks like this style of food. I do not.

This is a perfect example of how a Pizza place that is NOT run by Italian's survives because most American lemmings have no idea what GOOD PIZZA is, but will keep spending their money making the owner's rich because the slices are HUGE and for $4.50 you even get a drink. Like Bacci Pizza, they promote a slice that is almost as big as a Medium Pizza by some standards, but with all due respect to Bacci Pizza, another place I despise, Bacci Pizza slices actaully taste a little better. The Pizza is NOT good at Damenzo's and the clientele is even worse - especially after Midnight. It's kiddy corner to a bar where stabbings shootings and violence is the norm. How lovely. It's nice that someone actually thought of opening a place where you can get something other than McDonald's after the bars close, but it's a shame that these owners have no tastebuds. The proprietor of Damenzo's need to do some taste testing at other places like Lou Malnatti's, Mancini's in Oak Park, Bertolli's in River Forest or Amato's in Galewood on Harlem Ave. or have someone WHO has tastebuds let them know what good pizza is and THEN retool their recipe. Here's a word of advice to the owner of Damenzo's - by just adding a lot of Romano Cheese in the sauce does not make a favorfull Pizza - and when you think about it, how good do you think an "Italian" place can be when they also serve TACO's????!!!! What's next on your menu?Eggrolls? in short, Damenzo's Pizza truly blows, but I think I already said that... My suggestion to you? Go to McDonald's. My suggestion to the proprietor? Find another hobby or retool your recipe.

This place is just average at best. We were so excited when it opened because we are still having a hard time finding a pizza place that we love, so we were hoping that this would be it. It's in the old White Hen and it's decorated very nicely inside. We didn't dine in, but the dining room seemed cozy and they had a cute little bar that was very modern looking. We ordered two slices and fries. The slices were huge. We actually ended up splitting one and saving the other one for later. The sauce was really good, which is a big plus because as most pizza lovers know, the sauce is what makes a good pie. I was excited to see that they had the skin on fries, a favorite of mine. And, they gave us two sausage sandwiches for free! Although we weren't sure if they did that on accident or as a promotion since they just opened. It was also relatively inexpensive. I think we ended up paying like $10 or so. We finished our meal pleased and excited that this may be a new place for us. We ended up ordering again from here. My husband got a beef sandwich which he thought was good. I ordered a ham panini that was supposed to have provolone cheese and an olive spread. Mine came to me on some sort of roll that was soggy, and with mayo, lettuce, onion, and no cheese. It was pretty gross. The fries were pretty much the same as last time, although the bag contained quite a few more burned ones. How disappointing this was for me since I was hoping that it would be really good, especially since they told us they have another location on Taylor Street which is known for good italian food. My husband apparently likes the place more than I do since he's suggested it numerous times after. Every time he does though, I have to try to convince him to go somewhere else, as I'm not a fan.

It's at the end of our block, so we get carry out from Damenzo's more often than our waistlines should really allow. The food is fine. It's cheap and easy. Slices are huge (you can get cheese, sausage or pepperoni). The turkey panini and fettucini alfredo are especially good, if you're looking for something other than pizza. Good place to grab and go!

A small and live cockroach seen on the pork taco I ordered. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE!!! Almost threw up on their table.

I really like this Damenzos. I have been eating there pizza for over 19 years... i wouldn't lie, have been to there original Damenzo's on Taylor street which i think has better pizza then this new branch...The best part is the pizza is very affordable and great tasting.Take it from me, give it a try, its worth it.

I went back the other day with my friend for lunch before we started laying down some vocals. We both ordered a slice, he cheese and sausage again for me. This time there was a noticeable difference in flavor, so I am pretty sure it was overdone before. They also updated their take-out menus (i.e., stamped a bunch of Chinese letters over the old messages) to reflect a delivery fee of $2.50 instead of $4 and that they do take credit cards now. My friend went to use his card, and they told him it was a $5 minimum for future reference (they did accept it this time, though). I'm not sure I'll be frequenting here as often as Nonno's or DiNico's, as I'm still not quite sold on the overall flavor of the pizza, but for the price it'll certainly be an option. The prices look reasonable on the pastas and other items, so if I'm feeling adventurous I'll try something else next time.

On occasion the thin crust can be phenomenally good but is remarkably inconsistent. However, there is something funky and cheap about the cheese, which I recognize from having it in Chicago. Slices, like from every other pizza vendor in the area, generally suck. Barbacoa taco sampled was good enough to warrant a 2nd look.
(3)Antoinette C.
I stopped in thinking it was a pizza spot named Di Nicos since I heard their food was good and both names started with D. Since I was there already I decided to stay since I was in a rush and didn't have time to find the other one. It was in the early evening & it wasn't busy, which was good because I wanted to be in and out. I ordered a slice of sausage and a steak taco. It came out to be $7 and some change. It was money well spent. The slice was huge and the taco was big and stuffed with cheese, cilantro, lettuce and onion. I loved it. This just might be my new pizza spot. I'll have to confirm that by going again a few more times soon, just to make sure it wasn't luck.

You know how most Calzone's is usually the size of a small pizza folded in half or how you might want to sink your teeth into a dipped Italian beef while holding it in your hand? Definitely not the case here. The Calzone was more likea medium/large pizza and the Italian Beef came in a tray. Both could be shared with...o say 3 people and you still would have leftovers. Delicious and satisfying is all I'm saying. **caution** the online menu needs an update. The prices have went up so just ask the price when ordering.
(4)Matt M.
I've tried two different calzones here and they are HUGE, made fresh, and they are not stingy on the meat. I was really excited to finally try this place after passing it by for so long because of its unimpressive exterior. Inside it has a much better pizzeria feel and is quite good.
